On February 16, Ambassador dr Marina Jovićević met with the President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Belgian Parliament, Ms. Eliane Tillieux.

One of the topics raised during the meeting was current state of bilateral relations between Belgium and Serbia. Ambassador Jovićević referred to the pending invitation to Ms. Eliane Tillieux to visit Serbia after the stabilization of the epidemiologic situation. The process of European integration of Serbia and the challenges along the way were also discussed. The ambassador expressed the expectation that Belgium would support European integration of Serbia, within the new methodology, and that Serbia will continue its negotiations with the EU this year in more intensive pace.

The activities undertaken in both countries in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic were also discussed, as well as the vaccination process. Ambassador Jovićević informed about the process of mass vaccination in Serbia, based upon health, and not geopolitical approach, with almost a million people vaccinated in less than a month.

Economic, and social consequences of Covid-19 crisis were also discussed. With that regard, the ambassador informed about the favorable economic results of Serbia compared to the Eurozone, due to the balanced approach taken among economic and epidemiological measures and the construction of two new hospitals for the treatment of patients with Covid-19.
