8/09/2017 Manifestation on the occasion of 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Liège

 

The 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Liège was celebrated in the organization of the Municipal Assembly of Liège, the Committee of the Patriotic Groups of the Province of Liège, the Police of the City of Liège and the Military Command of the Province of Liège, on September 8, 2017.

On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Belgium, the wreath was laid on the graves of the victims of the Second World War, at the Citadel in Liège, by the Minister, Adviser Irena Banovčanin, chargé d’affairs a.i. towards the institutions of the receiving state until the presentation of the credentials by ambassador Marina Jovićević to the King.

Representatives of city and provincial authorities, police and military institutions, patriotic groups, diplomatic corps, representatives of the Embassies of USA, RF, Poland, France, Spain, Luxembourg and Germany attended the ceremony of laying the wreaths. After the speech of the representatives of the local authorities and the chargé d’affairs of US embassy, the children from the local school read the letters of the victims.

This was followed by the review of the police services, firefighters, civil protection and the Red Cross in front of the City Assembly and a solemn academy.
